New York Carpet Cleaners: What To Ask Up Front

By Leon Tolstoy

Whether you spent a small fortune on your carpet and consider it an investment, or you just want it to be clean, you will still want to have it done by a quality cleaner you can trust. And there are many New York carpet cleaning companies from which to choose.

Although there are several carpet cleaning methods, the method of choice is Hot Water Extraction. This is known to be the best way for deep cleaning a carpet.

Other methods include Bonnet or Absorbent Pad cleaning which is simple but really just cleans the surface of the carpet. Dry Chemical cleaning and Dry Foam cleaning are both, obviously, dry methods which are relative quick but do not clean as deeply as the hot water method.

As you are sifting through coupons or specials offers, do not be pulled in by ones that advertise a per room cost or a price for a certain number of rooms. A reputable company is going to base their price on the square footage. Companies who do not are more likely to have hidden charges.

Of course, it is best if you can get a recommendation from someone you know. If that is not possible, you can check with the Better Business Bureau and also ask companies that you are considering for references.

When you have your top picks, they will need to come to you to give you an appropriate quote, based on the area of the carpeting. The representative will also need to review any problem stains that will need more work and time. After discussing your needs, you should check any warranties that you have for your carpet to be sure that no treatments will nullify it.

When they are writing up the quote, make sure that it details what is included in the price. Certain services are generally included such as vacuuming prior to cleaning, preconditioning, normal spot removal and moving furniture. Be sure that there are no extra charges for normal services. Furniture moving, in particular, is a good thing to discuss up front.

After the price and the service details are agreed upon, all should be written up in a contract for both parties to sign. Whatever guarantees the cleaning company offer should be included in the contract.

While all of this may sound like more work than the cleaning itself, in the end you will be glad you made the effort. And you will have found a New York carpet cleaning company that you are happy with and can call on in the future. - 30412
